On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Games of the XXV Barcelona’92 Olympiad, the UAB Olympic and Sports Studies Centre (CEO-UAB) has organized a series of activities to commemorate this milestone in the history of Barcelona.

In the collaboration with the UAB Communication and Newspaper Library, the bibliographical exhibition “Barcelona’92” has been organised. The exhibition aims to offer a tour, through documents, of an event that has left a significant imprint in the city of Barcelona and that has positioned it among one of the main sporting cities in the world. You can visit the exhibition on the ground floor of the Library until September 2017, or get more detailed information on the UAB Library Service website.

The Centre also collaborates with the organization of Vikimarathon Barcelona 92, together with Amical Wikimedia and the Barcelona Olympic Foundation, and with the collaboration of INEFC Barcelona. The vikimarathon will take place on Friday July 14, 2017 from 10:00 to 13:30 at the Olympic and Sports Museum of Barcelona, and will bring together Wikipedia editors who will publish and improve the articles about the Barcelona’92 Games.

Finally, during July 2017 the new website of Barcelona Olímpica will be released, a digital space dedicated to the Olympic memory of Barcelona. The project involved, in addition to the CEO-UAB, the Barcelona Olympic Foundation and the Barcelona Municipal Archive.

The Barcelona’92 Games left their mark at the UAB with the construction of the University Village, the Veterinary Clinical Hospital and the Olympic and Sports Studies Centre, a research centre dedicated to the study, training and dissemination about the Olympic and sports phenomenon from a social science perspective, and one of the actors responsible for guarding the legacy of the Barcelona’92 Olympic Games, in particular that linked to knowledge.
