CEO-UAB holds a unique specialised collection on the Barcelona’92 Olympic Games, the Olympics (i.e the Olympic Movement and the Olympic Games), and on the sporting phenomenon. Users can access more than 5,200 monographs and research documents, 89 journals, 725 videos, posters and images,

Barcelona 1992 Olympic collection

Since its creation, one of the main objectives of the CEO-UAB has been to disseminate knowledge on the Barcelona’92 Olympic Games and what they represented.  The CEO-UAB manages a significant collection of sources of knowledges on the Barcelona”92 Olympic Games, sources resulting from the staging of the Barcelona’92 Olympic Games and studies that academic researchers have done on them (impact studies, best practices, etc.). Over 1,300 documents on the Barcelona’92 Olympic Games, including books, reports, working papers, leaflets, videos, press dossiers, etc. Of particular significance are the Olympic ceremonies and sport events broadcasts video collection, the specialised press dossiers covering the 1988-1992 period, and the academic research undertaken on the Games.

CEO-UAB is one of the leading partners of Barcelona Olímpica, a partnership with the Barcelona Olympic Foundation –legacy institution created after the Games– and the Barcelona Municipal Archives – holder of the Games official archive. The Project, launched in 2012, aims to preserve and disseminate the Olympic and sport memory of the city, and to support Olympic and sport studies.

Olympic collection

A collection on the Olympic Games, Olympism and the Olympic Movement. It consists of materials on:
– the history of Olympism;
– official reports of the Olympic Games;
– IOC and NOCs corporate documentation
– documentation on candidate cities; and,
– academic books on various issues connected with the Olympic phenomenon (economics, culture, education, gender, etc.).

Sport collection

Understanding the Olympics requires understanding the sport phenomenon. CEO-UAB sporting collection has been develop with resources connected with sport from a number of different perspectives focused on the social sciences and humanities, in particular:
– communication, marketing and sponsorship
– event management
– economics
– sociology
