Laurence Chalip
International Chair in Olympism. Invited professor 2000
Professor and Head of the Department of Recreation, Sport and Tourism at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (United States). Prof. Chalip research focuses on the impact of the Olympic Games on the sports and tourism policy in host cities, with a special focus on the Sydney 2000 Games.
Dr. Chalip was appointed as visiting professor of the International Chair in Olympism in 2000. During his stay at the CEO-UAB Prof. Chalip’s work focused on the impact of the Sydney Olympic Games on the Australian sport and tourism policy. The programme of activities included: a postgraduate seminar on the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games; a conference at the seminar Clubs or public organisations: management and social representation of sport in modern society, o-organised by CEO-UAB and the Institut dEstudis Catalans; and various university lectures on the impacts of the Sydney 2000 Games.
