Itxasne Sagarzazu

Degree in Sociology (UAB, 2005) and Doctor in Sociology at the UAB. She was a research fellow at the Olympic Studies Centre (CEO-UAB) from 2006 to 2008 and worked on research into sport and immigration. Since January 2008, she has been a research fellow in the Department of Education, Universities and Research of the Basque Government. She has taken part in several projects in the field of sport and multiculturality, and was the chief investigator for a study on the sporting activities of immigrant women in Catalonia funded by the Secretariat for Immigration and the Directorate General for Research of the Government of Catalonia (2006). Her research interests focus on social aspects of sport, mainly gender, sporting habits, health and the integration of immigrants into sport.
