CEO-UAB participated as a partner in a European project in the framework of the Leonardo da Vinci projects of the European Union during the period 1999-2001. The purpose of the project was to use a cultural and social event of national and international importance, for the improvement of vocational training initiated and continued. At the same time, it also aimed to introduce the quality dimension in vocational training systems and to develop model training programs for new professional skills, also suitable for young people without qualifications.

The other partners of the project were the Birmingham Training and Business Exchange Network (United Kingdom), the Institute for Professional Orientation and Training (IEKEP) and the General Secretariat of Youth in Greece.

Summary of activities:
  • Study/Analysis of Skills and qualifications appropriate for the execution of Olympic Games
  • Sensitisation of decision makers on the issues of total quality and skills’ accreditation
  • Analysis of three occupational profiles and of the necessary qualifications required for the organisation and implementation of the Olympic Games in Athens
  • Development of one training programme according to one of the above profiles and according to standards for accreditation
  • Development of a flexible transferable training module (customer service)
  • Three thematic seminars on training issues for training officers and trainers, with an aim to motivate them toward quality in training and skills’ accreditation
  • European youth forum informing youths about quality in training and their active participation in the Olympic Games
  • Pilot implementation of the flexible training module for a group of young unemployed persons
  • Evaluation and improvement of the flexible training module after implementation

The UAB work team was formed by Anna Belén Moreno, as coordinator of the project, Professor Faustino Miguelez, as research director, Salud Navarro, as researcher, Berta Cerezuela, as documentalist, and Miquel Gómez, as administrative coordination.
